Congratulations to our very own HVS Conservatory faculty member, Iman Jordan, who is now a GRAMMY Award Winner!
Iman Jordan teaches vocal production and songwriting at HVSC. He just won a Grammy Award—the Harry Belafonte Best Song For Social Change Award. Here is Iman’s acceptance speech:
“[When] I made this song, I was just making a song about what I was thinking and what was on my heart and I kept hearing this quote by Nina Simone that ‘art should reflect the times,’ and I wasn’t hearing much of that, you know, in music. In this world of THEY not like US, we forgot that it’s only us. There’s only we, you know, and no oligarchs, no politicians, no algorithms have any power over a people who are united. And we need to come together. And to the artists out there, we need you. This world is crazy. We need you right now more than ever to speak truth to power to light the way for a better future for us all and inspire the world. And so I thank you. Thank you and thank God. Appreciate you.”

“And most importantly, this award goes out to all the unseen and disenfranchised…to all those who are affected by war and persecution.” - Iman Jordan
