A great voice can capture attention. A great performance can make an audience remember you.
Join Ron Harris for a two-day immersive Performance Camp designed to help singers and artists strengthen their stage presence, build confidence, connect more deeply with their music, and learn how to command a stage with authenticity.
Over two days at The Village Studios, artists will work on the skills that transform singing a song into truly performing it. The experience culminates on October 25, when participants will have the opportunity to put their work into practice performing with a full live band.
Whether you’re preparing for live shows, auditions, showcases, recording-artist opportunities, or simply want to become a more confident performer, our Performance Camp provides a professional environment to develop the skills that only come from getting onstage and doing the work.
From Singer to Performer
Knowing how to sing a song and knowing how to perform a song are two different skills.
Performance requires much more than hitting the right notes. It involves understanding the story you’re telling, communicating with an audience, using the stage intentionally, working with musicians, recovering when something unexpected happens, and remaining connected to the music while everything around you is moving.
These are skills artists develop through experience.
This Performance Camp gives you that experience.
Rather than simply discussing performance technique, artists will have the opportunity to work on their own material, receive professional feedback, make adjustments, and immediately apply what they’re learning.
Another great way of working on your performance skills with professionals in the industry is our Acoustic Session series. This season we have one with Casey Abrams and another with Sizzy Rocket.
What you’ll work on
Throughout the weekend, Ron will work with artists on the elements that create a compelling and authentic live performance, including:
- 🎤 Stage Presence — Learn how to command the stage without forcing a performance or becoming disconnected from who you are as an artist.
- 🎶 Song Interpretation — Go beyond singing the notes and discover how intention, dynamics, phrasing, and emotional connection shape a performance.
- 👥 Audience Connection — Develop the confidence to communicate with an audience and create moments that feel genuine rather than rehearsed.
- 🎭 Movement & Body Language — Explore how physicality, movement, and stillness can support the story you’re telling.
- ⚡ Performance Confidence — Learn how to stay present, work through nerves, and trust your preparation when it’s time to perform.
- 🎸 Working with a Live Band — Develop the communication, awareness, and adaptability required when performing with professional musicians.
- 🎵 Developing Your Individual Performance Style — Discover what makes you compelling onstage rather than trying to imitate another artist.
Day One: Build the Performance
Saturday, October 24 | 1:00 PM
Day One is about developing the artist behind the performance.
Participants will work directly with Ron on their songs while exploring stage presence, interpretation, movement, confidence, audience connection, and the choices that can take a performance from technically strong to memorable.
Artists will receive individualized feedback and have the opportunity to make adjustments in real time.
The goal isn’t to create a “perfect” performance. It’s to help each artist discover how to communicate more confidently and authentically onstage.
Day Two: Perform with a Full Live Band
Sunday, October 25 | 1:00 PM
On Day Two, the experience moves to another level.
Artists will take what they developed during the first day and put it into practice with a full live band at The Village Studios.
Performing with musicians requires an entirely different level of awareness than singing with a backing track. Artists need to listen, communicate, lead, adapt, and remain connected to their performance while responding to what’s happening musically around them.
Participants will experience what it’s like to step into a professional performance environment and learn how to confidently work with a band—an invaluable skill for any developing recording or performing artist.
Meet Ron Harris
Ron Harris brings decades of music-industry experience to HVS Conservatory as a producer, former A&R executive, and artist-development mentor.
His perspective extends beyond simply evaluating whether an artist can sing. Ron works with performers to understand how they communicate their identity, connect with an audience, interpret their material, and develop the confidence and presence expected of artists in professional environments.
At out Performance Camp, artists have the opportunity to receive direct feedback while actively applying it to their own performances.
Why Performing with a Live Band Matters
There’s a point in an artist’s development when practicing alone—or even performing with a track—can only take you so far.
A live band responds to you.
Tempos breathe. Dynamics change. Musical moments develop differently from rehearsal to performance. As the artist, you have to communicate with the musicians while simultaneously remaining connected to the song and your audience.
Learning how to navigate that environment builds musicianship, confidence, leadership, and stage awareness.
That’s why the second day of our Performance Camp is such an important part of the experience. Artists won’t simply learn about live performance. They’ll experience it.
Who Should Attend?
Performance Camp is designed for singers, singer-songwriters, recording artists, and developing performers who want to become stronger and more confident onstage.
You don’t need to be an experienced live performer to participate. The camp is designed to meet artists where they are while challenging them to take the next step in their development.
It is especially valuable for artists preparing for showcases, concerts, auditions, industry performances, touring, or the transition from recording music to performing it live.

Performance Camp takes place at the legendary Village Studios, giving artists the opportunity to train in a professional environment that has been home to countless landmark recordings and artists.
For HVS Conservatory, the environment is part of the education.
Artists aren’t simply learning performance concepts in a classroom. They’re developing their craft in a space designed for professional music-making and experiencing the expectations, collaboration, and energy of a working creative environment.

Performance Camp: Own the Stage is part of the HVS Artist Camp Series—focused, short-form intensives designed to give singers, songwriters, and independent artists the opportunity to dive deeply into one essential area of their development.
The series includes training in vocals, performance, songwriting, toplining, and music production, led by working artists and music-industry professionals.
Each camp provides a concentrated opportunity to develop new skills, gain professional insight, and experience the HVS approach to artist development without the longer-term commitment of the full Conservatory program.
